Acrobat 9 or CS4 Products Did Not Install FNP Licensing Service VISTA FIX

I recently ran into an error on Adobe Acrobat 9 which I have not seen before. After some research there seems to be quite a lot of people who have had this same problem, but no good fix yet. However, there have been a few fixes for Acrobat 8.

THE PROBLEM:

Upon installation of Acrobat 9 on a Vista workstation, the licensing service (FLEXnet) never installs.The error we are trying to fix looks similar to “Licensing for this product has stopped working”.

THE SOLUTION:

You’ll see from the following steps that these tools are actually for Acrobat 8, but they do fix Acrobat 9. First, download the Acrobat 8 Licensing Service Fix: CLICK HERE

Follow the directions and install. Then restart.

Next, run the Adobe Licensing Repair Tool. CLICK HERE

Download and follow directions. A good restart after everything should get the licensing set back up again.

HOW TO TEST IF EVERYTHING WAS SUCCESSFUL:

Goto start>run and type in services.msc – about half way down you’ll see a service called FLEXnet Licensing Service and it should be running. If you don’t see this service, you’re back to step one. Good luck!

Xbox 360: PC Not Listed FIX

==THE PROBLEM==

For a long time, I’ve been successfully streaming video (using Windows Media Player) and audio (using Zune) to my Xbox 360. I just recently had a couple of updates to my PC: new CPU, new ram & a second video card – but no changes to the hard drive or windows. I did have to redo my windows activation since it relies on the CPU, but thats it! There were no problems and everything came up as usual. All the sudden, my xbox could not see the PC. However – the PC had no problem seeing the xbox!

I tried everything. I double checked that all services were running, automatic and started. I disabled sharing in WMP and re-enabled it. I even reinstalled ZUNE to recreate the sharing, but nothing. All uPNP, SSDP, Zune & WMP Network Sharing services were running with no errors.

==THE SOLUTION==

I assume by this point you’ve reset your router, your xbox and your PC multiple times hoping the problem will correct on its own. Now this isn’t a solution for everybody as different scenarios could have multiple problems, but it did work for me! I found on a lot of sites people talking about resetting the DRM entries on your XP machine. I figured the fix would be different on Vista since nobody was talking about it – and because its 2009, not 2005.

It’s called DRM – Digital Rights Management. You get the ‘PC Not Listed’ error code when the Windows Digital Rights Management (DRM) system on the computer is corrupted. The fix is fairly easy.

Make sure you are logged in as an administrator. Open up windows explorer by clicking on ‘Computer’ at your start menu. (you can also do this by going to start>run and type in userinit.exe – press enter)
In the top left corner, click on Organize and roll down to ‘Folder & Search Options’.
Click on the View tab and scroll down. Change the radio button about half way down to ‘Show Hidden Files and Folders’. Then, two checkboxes below that option is a checkbox that says ‘Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)’ and make sure it is UNCHECKED. Click Apply and Okay.
Back in your computer window, goto your C: drive (or wherever you installed Vista to) and you’ll see a folder called ProgramData. We are looking for this folder: c:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\DRM
Rename the DRM folder to DRMBackup. If it gives you any errors, once again, check to make sure you are an administrator.

Choose the Upgrade button and let it do its magic. When it is completed, I recommend restarting the XBOX and the PC. Make sure you go through your Windows Media Player settings again to double check everything is being shared. Also, make sure the following services are started by going to start>run and typing in services.msc :

uPnP Device Host
SSDP Discovery
Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service
Zune Wireless Configuration Service (only if you stream your zune library to your xbox)

Last but not least – doublecheck that your Windows Firewall is not blocking anything important. Easiest way to do it is to disable the firewall completely and see if things work. If they do, you know there is an exception you need to allow.

I wish I could post mp3’s on here but I would hate for them to disappear in a few weeks whenever the artist removes them from their sites, so I’ll just post links to myspace accounts. Oh Sing It Loud, way to be like every other popular pop/punk group. If you like Boys Like Girls, All Time Low, Forever the Sickest Kids, or We The Kings (thanks for the name drop photo kid) then you will like Sing It Loud. Our Last Night

This group right here kind of gets under my skin a little bit for personal reasons. My first record label Random Hero Records began to work with Our Last Night when they were fairly new. At that time, their screamer was only 14 (or close to it, but very young) so they group definitely needed some more time to perfect their sound. However, the other guy I worked with didn’t think they were anything talented. The other issue was because the kid was so young they were unable to tour. Okay, enough background info – they have perfected almost everything as they got signed to Epitaph where they just released an album called ‘The Ghosts Among Us’. Bored today? How about taking your turn to drive someone nuts. I’ve compiled a list of things you can do to annoy the crap out of people for days like these.

Call an addiction hot line and explain that you’re hooked on phonics.

Convince people that they’re pronouncing normal words wrong.

Wash out a gas can, punch a hole in it, then fill it with water and carry it down a busy lunch-hour sidewalk while smoking the biggest cigar you can find.

Ask strangers if they have change for a nickel.

Stick ‘Kick Me’ signs on inanimate objects.

In the bathroom at work, utter loud, pain-wracked screams, then emerge holding a large hen’s egg.

In the middle of the night, noisily bury a fully dressed mannequin in your backyard. Arrange lawn furniture on the fresh mound and sit down in it quickly when the police arrive.

Call National Acme Co. Ask if they have any products you could use to kill a roadrunner.

Fill an inflate-a-date with helium and release it at rush hour on a windy day. Chase it down the street, yelling, “Come back here, you tramp!”
